Engineer an autonomous planetary exploration rover built to navigate hostile simulated terrain.
Inspired by space exploration missions, Project Artemis tasks teams with designing, building, and programming an all-terrain rover capable of environmental sensing, obstacle traversal, and semi-autonomous waypoint navigation.
What You’ll Work On:
Chassis & Suspension: Design durable rocker-bogie or multi-wheel suspension setups in CAD to climb uneven obstacles and loose terrain.
Embedded Electronics & Power: Integrate onboard power management, distributed sensors, and robust communication links for remote telemetry.
Autonomy & Navigation: Combine IMUs, GPS/local positioning, and computer vision or LiDAR to plot safe traversal paths.
Scientific Payloads: Prototype onboard soil-sampling mechanisms, environmental sensor arrays, or robotic tool arms.
Experience Level: Advanced. Ideal for students interested in aerospace engineering, robotics mobility systems, computer vision, and autonomous vehicle design.
